Empowering Youth & Families Outreach Grand Opening Recap

On March 2, 2024, we celebrated our grand opening event joyously, where we came together to appreciate and thank our partners, students, and the community for their unwavering support. We honored esteemed guests, supporters, and dignitaries, acknowledging their valuable contributions to our cause. A momentous proclamation from the City of Seattle marked the significance of this day and the journey ahead.

Jahnaia Shoecraft-Walker led us in a heartfelt opening prayer, setting a tone of gratitude and positivity. Taylor Shoecraft skillfully guided us through the event, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees.

Inspiring impact statements from students, alumni, and parents resonated with the crowd, highlighting the transformative power of our programs. EYFO students showcased their talents, which added a touch of inspiration to the event.

The symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of our new location. Our student ambassadors from our College and Career Readiness program took the guests on a guided tour of the facility, where they learned more about Empowering Youth & Families Outreach programs. A lineup of talented performers, including Elias Bullock, DJ Nyce, spoken word artists, musicians, and dancers, lifted the energy and spirits throughout the day.

Our guests also enjoyed various activities such as face painting, balloon artistry, tattoos, and an engaging art gardening project by Ashleigh Patience. Hoopla Balloons created and donated our grand opening entrance. Guests played Spin the Wheel to win tickets to various activities, gift certificates, and goodies.

Complementary food & refreshments were provided from the Yummy Box Food Truck, Mexi Cuban Food Truck, Barbeque Simply Soulful, and yummy desserts from Ruby’s Sweets, J & Jaes Sweet Delectables, and more. Various resource tables provided valuable information and opportunities for engagement with organizations, including Braided Seeds, Queen Care, EYFO Entrepreneurs, Young, Black, and Brilliant, Empowering Youth & Families Outreach, and more.

This grand opening was a true celebration of collaboration, talent, and community spirit. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event successful. Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities!
